Hecho en Andalucía
In this first blog post written by the students of "Centro Gastronómico Ecijano", we present a salted product. A very typical product from Ecija since ancient times, which is eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
-1 KG. strong flour.
-2 Cups warm water.
-50 Grams of fresh yeast.
-400 Grams of lard.
-1 Teaspoon of salt.
-8 Tablespoons sugar.
-Sugar for sprinkling on cakes.
In a bowl, dissolve the yeast together with the water, then dissolve the butter a bit, we add the sugar and flour and knead.
* The dough should be sticky, cover it with a cloth and let ferment one hour. After that, cut the dough into balls (the size you prefer)
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Flatten and shape the balls, sprinkle sugar on them.
Cooking should last 20 minutes.
Tips for tasting:
There is something for everyone, for those people who like them as they are, just open your package, but we can also toast them or open them and accompany them with red lard (manteca “colorá”), with oil and ham, butter, jam, honey, etc. . It is irresistible in every way.
It is eaten at all times of the year but is recommended to consume them in a few days once purchased, and they can also be frozen for a couple of months.
